After a moment of silence for Angel Clifford at last night’s Selectboard meeting, Dave & Brenda Gammon of the Gammon Family Farm were presented with this year’s Spirit of America Award. In acknowledgement of their never-ending support of our community, the following was read: 

M U N I C I P A L   R E S O L U T I O N

The 2023 Peru, Maine, Spirit of America Foundation Tribute honors the Gammon Family Farm for commendable community service.

Be It Resolved by the Selectmen of the Town of Peru as follows:

Whereas, the Gammon Family Farm sponsors bottle drives by placing its large farm-animal trailer at the Peru Town Office for the purpose of collecting and redeeming returnable bottles, in support of residents facing large medical expenses, long-term sickness, auto accident injuries, and/or other life difficulties; and

Whereas, the Gammon Family Farm, by encouraging Peru residents to donate to their neighbors in this simple way, models for all of us generosity, compassion, and dedication to “doing the right thing”; and

Whereas, the Gammon Family Farm has respected Peru veterans in recent years by placing flowers on their graves; and

Whereas, the Gammon Family Farm truly reflects the ideal of volunteerism inherent in the Spirit of America.

Be it Resolved by the Selectmen of the Town of Peru that the Gammon Family Farm is hereby recognized for the exemplary achievements and honors it has brought upon this community, with the 2023 Spirit of America Foundation Tribute.

Be it Further Resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Gammon Family Farm.
